TN Wi-Fi Social Club

I have an overwhelming urge to do what I can to help Jason Panks grow our TN Wi-Fi Social Club after hearing two excellent presentations at WLPC 2020.  The first one was “Human Impact of the Wi-Fi Community” by Samuel Clements. The second was “Building a Community” by Tom Hollingsworth. We are lucky enough to have several Wireless Engineers residing in Middle Tennessee.  We had talked about getting together but never did anything about it. We had the usual excuses . . too busy . . etc. In my opinion wireless is growing faster than the number of engineers to implement it properly.

Jason Panks reached out to Sam and asked about starting a social club.  Sam thought it was an excellent idea and provided the venue. That is how our group began and now we would love for others to join us.  All you need is an interest in wireless. Your job may not involve wireless at this time or you may not live in Tennessee. Everyone is welcome.  All you need to do is reply to Jason’s Twitter invitation and come join us.

Sam Clements is a great mentor and has helped me on my journey.  I have begun mentoring others. There is always someone out there that knows a lot more than you but there are others that want to learn what you know.  I never thought I would be smart enough to mentor anyone but after years of studying I realize there are questions I can now answer for others. If I don’t know the answer I will find it.  I feel very passionate about sparking interest in the wireless community to younger generations. I was explaining channel use over the phone to one young man that I am mentoring which led to me purchasing the CWNA ebook for him so I could refer to the page number as I explained.  I’ve heard several of my friends at the conference this week say things like “I don’t feel smart” or “I don’t know what I could offer.” Everyone has something to offer no matter where you are on your journey.
